Management Development Process - Turning Managers into Leaders
"The assets of most businesses walk out of the door at the end of each day. The challenge to management is to create an environment which will motivate them to want to return the next day."
Lynn Yates
There is a shortage of effective leadership in all areas of our society…business, government, community, churches, healthcare, and welfare agencies. Developing leaders takes time and in most organizations time is a luxury that doesn’t exist. Consequently most attempts to develop leaders are of the “quick fix” approach. Often there is no development at all… people are just promoted beyond their level of competence.
Behavior change takes time. Especially behavior developed from a lifetime of habit. Only an ongoing process of development will produce sustainable results. The length of the program and cost per participant are dependant on the customized approach implemented.
The Management Development Process was developed to address the key issues organizations are facing in this twenty-first century, to be come an employer of choice:
- The need to compete effectively in a global marketplace
- The need to achieve more with less
- The ability to attract and retain talented people
- The need to be innovative and respond quickly to change
- The need to capitalize on marketing, sales and customer service initiatives by developing customer loyalty
- The need to get the best performance possible out of the existing work force.
The development occurs as part of a process and not an event. Training consists of 6 modules spaced over time to allow for integration into the work place and through the work force.
- Self Management
- Interpersonal Skills
- Managing Differences
- Performance Management
- Managing Innovation
- Leadership
The use of the Management Development Competency Assessment, a 50 item “360” measurement tool is an optional tool to provide both pre- and post- training assessment.
